Brighter Works

Training & Guidance for More Confident Communication

Our workshops are about giving people confident communication skills through practice and play.

We believe that confidence isn’t something you wait to feel: it’s something you need to practise. And we believe doing hard things can be fun.

michelle and kirsty

Michelle Fahrenheim is an actor and coach who has spent the last ten years helping people find their voice and confidence. She’s worked with diplomats, educators, senior managers and creatives to help them communicate authentically, and feel genuinely present and valuable in the room.

Kirsty Cooke is a marketing consultant who has spent the last fifteen years helping brands find and tell their story, in order to engage customers. She brings the same skills to working with individuals: teasing out what’s most interesting, relevant, and likely to get them to their desired outcome.

Together, they combine the craft of storytelling with the tools of performance: so workshop participants uncover what they want to say, and how to say it with confidence. Both are trained improvisers, and regularly perform in theatres across the UK.

Our ethos

Our workshops are based around some core principles:

Confidence starts with the body. How you stand, move, and speak shapes how you come across, and how you feel. We start with physical and vocal work to get you out of your head and into the room.

Confidence is built through doing. The doing is the learning. We give people multiple chances to practice realistic scenarios, in their own voice, get feedback, adjust, and try again.

Breakthroughs come from reflection. The pause is just as important as the repetition. We talk about every exercise, before and after, to make sure the learning sticks.

Being brave can be playful. When something feels fun, people take more risks. We use games and activities to lower the stakes, increase participation, and build a bit of resilience.

Our workshops

It’s easier than ever to find information. You can study tips from confident communicators online, watch the Ted Talks, listen to the podcasts and read the books. But when it comes to speaking up and being heard, you need practice. There is no real substitute for trying things out in a public space: whether that’s learning to use your body, breath and voice in a more impactful way, role-playing a difficult conversation until it feels natural and easy, or simply connecting with others and getting real-time feedback on how your words are landing.

We work with individuals as well as companies to deliver workshops that have a lasting impact: leading to better conversations, and brighter work.
